President Li Zhenguo Issued the Report of China's Photovoltaic Development Prospect in 2050 at the 25th UN Climate Change Conference
Time:2019-12-16 17:12:00
On December 12, Mr. Li Zhenguo, President of LONGi Co., Ltd., released the report of China's 2050 Photovoltaic Development Prospect (hereinafter referred to as " Prospect") jointly researched and completed by Energy Research Institute of National Development and Reform Commission and Shaanxi Coal Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd. to the world at the 25th UN Climate Change Conference.

Zhao Yingmin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Ecological Environment of People's Republic of China, Dan Jorgensen, Minister of Climate, Energy and Public Utilities of Denmark, Wang Zhongying, Deputy Director of Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission, He Jiankun, Deputy Director of the National Climate Change Expert Committee of China, Li Junfeng, Executive Director of China Energy Research Association, and many other guests attended the outcome exchange meeting and delivered speeches.

The Prospect report released this time is the first national clean energy technology prospect report in the world with private renewable energy technology enterprises as important participants. Prospect points out that driven by factors such as technological progress driving system efficiency improvement, the cost of photovoltaic power generation will decrease rapidly, and the cost advantage of photovoltaic power generation will become more and more obvious in the future. Before 2025, photovoltaic power generation will become one of the most economical new power generation technologies. By 2050, photovoltaic will become the largest power source in China, accounting for nearly 40% of the total social power consumption.

Jointly Issue Prospect Report with Multiple Institutions
Reveal that Photovoltaic will Become the Largest Power Supply in China

Prospect was jointly completed by the Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission, LONGi Co., Ltd. and Shaanxi Coal Chemical Industry Group, bringing together the wisdom of national think tanks, renewable energy enterprises, and traditional coal enterprises. From the perspective of technology, cost, path, support, mode, and benefit, the report points out that photovoltaic will become the most important power source in China in the future and will bring great help to China and even the world to curb climate change and achieve sustainable development.
Prospect points out that continuous technological progress is the biggest driving force for the cost reduction of photovoltaic power generation, and the rapidly decreasing cost of photovoltaic power generation is the cornerstone for realizing a high proportion of photovoltaic deployment. According to Prospect, by 2025, the cost of newly installed photovoltaic power generation is expected to be less than 0.3 yuan / kWh. The cost advantage of photovoltaic power generation will become more and more obvious in the future. By 2035 and 2050, the cost of new photovoltaic power generation will be reduced to about 0.2 yuan / kWh and 0.13 yuan / kWh.

It is predicted in the report that China's photovoltaic deployment will be accelerated from the 14th Five Year Plan period (2020-2025); from 2025 to 2035, China's photovoltaic deployment will be accelerated on a large scale. In 2025 and 2035, the total installed capacity of photovoltaic power generation in China will reach 730gw and 3,000gw respectively; by 2050, the data will reach 5,000gw, and photovoltaic power will become the largest power source in China, accounting for about 40% of the national electricity consumption in that year.

At the same time, with the development of distributed photovoltaic and the innovative application of energy storage technology, the future mode of energy consumption will also have a huge change, and the power dispatching and trading will be more intelligent and meet different power demand. Based on the huge amount of urban buildings in China and the south wall area of more than 30 billion square meters, "building-integrated PV" will bring at least 3 billion kilowatts of photovoltaic installation; the modes of light storage aggregation, light storage sharing and "virtual power plant" willfully reshape the energy consumption pattern of families and commercial institutions.

In the end, Prospect points out that the development of high proportion photovoltaic power generation will further bring huge ecological and environmental benefits, significantly reduce environmental pollution, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the source of energy supply.

The Prospect report released this time takes both trend judgment and solution into account, analyzes and researches from multiple perspectives, and gives very rigorous prediction results. A number of on-site experts, including Wang Zhongying, Deputy Director of Energy Research Institute of National Development and Reform Commission, highly recognized the photovoltaic industry prospect presented in this report.

After "Solar for Solar"
Role & Significance of LONGi's Repositioning Photovoltaic in Climate Change

This time, "Prospect" was released in COP25, which is LONGi's second voice at the UN Climate Change Conference. At the 24th Climate Change Conference in 2018, Mr. Li Zhenguo released the concept of "Solar for Solar" and demonstrated the future photovoltaic development mode of "Manufacturing Clean Energy with Clean Energy."
This time, LONGi brings "Prospect," which more systematically shows LONGi's deep insight in photovoltaic technology, manufacturing, and even the whole industry. Li Zhenguo said that now it is at a historical turning point for photovoltaic power generation to achieve affordable access to the Internet, and it is necessary to reposition the role and significance of photovoltaic in energy transformation and climate change response. Whether it is to achieve the "decarbonization" goal of COP25 or to achieve the long-term global sustainable development vision, photovoltaic power generation will be an important backbone.

"The Chinese government's long-term positive attitude and solemn commitment to climate and emission reduction are also the basis for the realization of sustainable development goals." Mr. Li added, "as a clean energy enterprise, LONGi is also continuously exploring how to make more contributions to the green earth from the perspective of the enterprise. This release of Prospect is a useful attempt at LONGi from the perspective of industrial research and judgment. In the future, we will further study in accordance with the year and gradually expand to the global photovoltaic and energy prospect. "
During the 25th session of the UN Climate Change Conference, LONGi also deeply participated in a series of important conferences related to sustainable development transformation and new energy development, including the communication practice of addressing climate change and the theme sideshow of the documentary "Journey to the Climate Conference," the sideshow of Chinese enterprises on climate action: empowering and innovating, and the sideshow of "using solar energy as the center to combat climate change," which fully demonstrated the insight and responsibility of Chinese new energy enterprises in the global process of tackling climate change.

After the release of the report, LONGi also further explained Prospect to global media through the UN press release office, and broadcast it live through the official website of the current Climate Change Conference.
